Bamboo cutting board cleaning how too's?

~~I purchased a beautiful and expensive bamboo cutting board. How do I keep it clean? Will the wood dry out if I wash it with soap and water?,,,,it has such a nice soft sheen to it right now,,,

Bamboo cutting boards are wonderful . They are more expensive than wood but will last longer.

You should wash after every use in warm soapy water , never soak it in water!! wipe dry but also leave out to finish air drying. Never put into the dishwasher. If it starts to look dull or dry after a while, just rub with a soft white cloth that has some mineral oil on it. Do not use vegetable oil. It can get rancid. Bamboo is great cause it is actually grass not wood and is a renewable resource. I have several in lots of sizes for many jobs. Enjoy!!
Reply:i wouldnt advise soaking it, wet it a little and rub in some ordinary table sat then rinse it off and allow to dry
Reply:Bamboo boards are easy on your knives so thet is a coog choice.

Regardless of the type of material, cutting boards should be washed in hot soapy water immediately after use, and occasionally sanitized by adding "chlorine" to the water.

Discard boards once they sustain cracks and cuts that can form a hiding place for raw food and bacteria, making them harder to clean completely.

Make sure board is completely dry before storing it.

My favorite board to use however, is a tempered glass board. They won't get groves from the knives, they don't absorb juices and bacteris from other foods, and you can wash them in the dishwasher with out harm.
Reply:hi, I have one of those too.. I love 'em.., here's what I do, I soak it in hot soapy water then using soft surface sponge I gently scrub the surface,

It won't scratch your board yet it will keep it clean :))

or you can just use antibacterial kitchen wet wipes (clorox wipes)
