Bamboo Plants?
its kinda just a thing that they go through, you might want to try to clean whatever you have it in and snip off the roots that have grown too its okay and wont hurt it they do grow back, also what type of light do you have it in? they like indirect sun not direct sun, so put it across a sunny room or on a table near a window. and is it just 1 stick of bamboo or a bunch all together? i thikn that they do good when you have 3-4 together also. make sure that you are using fresh water and also might try using bottled water and not tap as the tap has chemicals that can cause damage to . i have a clump of 4 that i got 5 years ago and it is now 4 ft tall im so proud of it

Does Contemporary bamboo flooring smell?

I have chemical sensitivity and sensitivity with smells. I want to know if Bamboo flooring has any chemical smells to it. I want to rent a beach house but don't know if I should because it has bamboo floors which I heard could have a smell.

Does Contemporary bamboo flooring smell?
By now, there's been a lot of regulation of bamboo floors. When they first came out, there was a concern with formaldehyde emissions. But, now European and US standards have all but phased out the old floors to make room for ones with emissions that are low-to-none. It should be said that most flooring is finished with some kind of treatment to keep moisture out. Bamboo is no exception. My suggestion is to visit the location you're thinking renting and see if you notice any noticeable odour. Ask about how long the floors have been installed. If they've been in for a while, chances are that they will have finished outgassing.

Over the long-term, modern flooring is designed to keep the air free of irritants. This is the advantage of natural flooring, so it is in the interest of the industry to make sure that emissions are not a problem, even to senstive noses like yours.

Good luck!

Pets and bamboo floors?

i am looking at moving into a downtown apartment that is too cute for words...except it has bamboo wood floors, which are beautiful, but we have a small dog (20 lbs) and i am concerned his nails are going to scratch it up. we've always lived on carpet and vinyl so i've never really had to take this into consideration before. obviously, we don't want to move in only to find out we will be needing to replace the floors when we leave.

i think i know what the obvious answer is, but i have high hopes, so does anyone have bamboo floors and a dog, and want to throw in their two cents??

Pets and bamboo floors?
Bamboo wood floors are a very soft wood. A big dog could do some damage, even a small dog. One accident and it could mean distaster even toenails like you mentioned would be bad. You could place a lot of area rugs down but then it's still an issue.
Reply:I have birch floors and 2 bigger dogs (one 50lbs one 65lbs) and their nails do scratch into the surface. Especially when they've run and then stopped suddenly and slid across the surface digging in their nails. Have you read up on bamboo floors and their hardness - honestly I don't know. But provided this to you for reference and comparison.

How can Bamboo be transplanted to other areas in my yard from existing Bamboo?

I have a lot of Bamboo on side of my backyard and would like to grow it on other side as well. Roots can't be dug up either, they go to China.

How can Bamboo be transplanted to other areas in my yard from existing Bamboo?
bamboo can be propagated by cutting .at least one cutting should have 2 nodes. place this cutting in shades with moist soil.after 1 months roots will develop in each nodes and shoots will follow .by this mean you can transport bamboo to other garden area.
Reply:Bamboo spreads by the roots.. You don't need much root to get it to grow somewhere else..If you have a lot of it in one area...give it a try..My brother has been trying to get rid of his for 8 years....digs %26amp; digs ... pulls up the roots...unfortunately he threw them over an embankment..now it's all over the place there too...just like posion ivy..
Reply:Why would you want to do that to yourself?! Bamboo ,if a running variety, will tear up driveways and the foundation of your home. It will spread to neighbors who will be unable to rid themselves of it. That is the sure fire way of making enemies of your neighbors and reducing the resale value of your home, and others.

Can a bamboo shoot sprout a new plant if it is broken or cut?

I have a bamboo plant which was cut and want to start a new one from the broken section. Does bamboo work like that?

Can a bamboo shoot sprout a new plant if it is broken or cut?
sure. Put the broken piece in a clear container of water. The broken piece is called the "terminal bud" when removed, auxilliary buds (side shoots) will grow to replace the terminal bud.

have fun
Reply:Of course it does just put it in a glass of water and wait for two weeks to go by then your bamboo shoot will have new roots appearing, then put it in water with rocks in it, they need clean tap water in order to root, i have tried water from a lake and it did not work, then i tried tap water then it rooted, i have done this for a year mine keeps on producing shoots so i root them in clean water. I hope this helps and Good Luck!
Reply:Bamboo is VERY difficult to kill. You can no dout propigate several new bamboo plants from the same broken piece.

Questions regarding bamboo flooring installations.?

I am scheduled to install a bamboo floor throughout a ladies entire house minus a bathroom and a half bath (1825 sf) and she wants it done wihtout any t-moldings anywhere except where it touchs the tile of the 2 baths. The longest point on the width is 42ft which I plan to use the spacers and the length is 62ft. The layout of the house is such that it is not contiguous across the 62ft however my concern with her is having areas where the material will not be wide enough to actually work with, ie. a 1/8th sliver of wood to be against the wall. Has anybody done this and any suggestions on how to make her understand why the t-moldings are needed. Her concerns are purely aestetic because it is steam carbonized bamboo and the t-moldings are a deeper color than the flooring. HELP PLEASE!!!

Questions regarding bamboo flooring installations.?
You need to contact the U.S. seller for complete info. If you are charging for your work you MUST follow the instructions. If you don't and the job fails the seller will turn down the claim and you will be expected to buy new flooring and pay all expenses of replacement. If the instructions call for "t" over a given run length, may be 30', have the home owner sign that she will not hold you responsible. You may still end up in court, but you will have a chance of winning with the owner signing off. You need to be sure you will get paid so ask to get paid before you leave the job.

Why do bamboo die after flowering .?
Bamboo is a monocarpic plant. This means that in its life it will only bloom and make seeds one time. After this happens, it is done, so it dies. Many grasses are like this.

How enviornmentaly friendly is bamboo??

I've heard great things about bamboo... It grows quickly, its durable, and renewable... But I have also heard bamboo is very invasive in some parts of the world. There are many species of bamboo, which is used for construction? And is that species invasive? I can't find any straightforward answers online. Any help?

How enviornmentaly friendly is bamboo??
Many people think bamboo is an invasive grass, but only a few out of many, many species of bamboo is actually invasive. A variety of bamboos are used for construction, house wares (like flooring,) and garden design. One on line nursery I like is http://www.bamboogarden.com

Bamboo is cut green, then allowed to dry. Next it is cut for it's intended use, and then sold. After looking at the on line nursery, search for each species you like for more information. Here are some links to bamboo nurseries. The first one specializes in non-invasive species. If you want bamboo for construction, check for the largest ones they sell. Then double check them to be sure.

Bamboo is the only forest left in China. They have cut down all the trees.

Bamboo grows very quickly, so it is the only forest left.

They can all be invasive, you'll need a bit of sensible planning

I love bamboo and money plants but they always die on me - why?

My dad recommended putting a rusty nail in with the bamboo plant.

Does anyone have any other tips to keep my bamboo plants alive - I hate the place where I'm living right now so maybe they do not like it either?

Thanks in advance.

I love bamboo and money plants but they always die on me - why?
if you hate your place, you may not be giving them the attention they need either, dont know about bamboo indoors as only have it growing in the garden, but money plants:

difused light, deep pot, lots of soil, a good water once a week and i have had mine for years, occassional plant feed..

this seems a good site.
Reply:Don't over water them but don't leave them to completely dry out before watering them either!
Reply:DONT WATER THEM TOO MUCH
Reply:i live in Scotland.I don't have bamboo but my money plant thrives by being ignored and watered occasionally....i keep it indoors from October till past the last frost(hopefully) then it sits in the garden in its pot, some times it gets too much water, sometimes not enough just as it would in the wild.
Reply:Bamboo likes plenty of water.
Reply:i keep my bamboo in a clear vase and full of clean water.its grown so big i might have to change it to a different vase soon as they love water just make sure u change it every 3 days.Good luck and happy growing
Reply:Try weed plants
Reply:Can't tell you what to do with money plants, but with bamboo, keep them in about 2-3 inches of water and change it every 5 days, when you change the water, rinse the roots of the bamboo too...........had mine for 3 years now and they are going strong, taken lots of cuttings from them too.
Reply:Sounds like you are using pots, is that right?

If so are you overwatering them - the classic error with both.
Reply:I have no idea where you live in this world, so I can't say if that is why the bamboo dies. Bamboo is hardy only to about zone 6 in canada. It also doesn't like arid country - it likes lots of water and good drainage. Tell us where you live.

Growing a Bamboo plant at my desk?

I have a bamboo plant and the woman who i bought it from said its ok as long as there is a "little bit of light". My desk gets hardly any natural light and everyone elses desk plants grow fine yet they aren't bamboo. Do you think it would survive?

Growing a Bamboo plant at my desk?
yes, but put it as close to the lights as you can.. Ie on a shelf or something..

bamboo works best with natural light, but can work inside with little sunlight as long as it is watered and getting rays from the lights inside
Reply:I have some bamboo that the owner before me tried to plant to screen neighbors. It does not do well because it has full shade and only direct sun during early morning or late evening. No, I think they need FULL SUN and decent soil in order to make one of those Bamboo walls. If that is what you want, drop the bamboo idea and think about a clinging vine plant. There are several that will make you privacy or whatever you're looking for - some bloom and smell nice, too.

See your local expert at the nursery - heck, don't cost nothing.
Reply:Bamboo as with all grass, some do well in low light and others will soon die. Read up on the variety you have and determine it's light needs.good luck

The strength of lightweight bamboo?

I bought a lightweight bamboo cane for use in theatrical performance, and when I got it I noticed the cane part was somewhat flexible, with a few "skin-deep" cracks at the top of the cane handle. Anyways, I heard that bamboo is extremely tough and durable and strong, is this true, will my bamboo cane not break under weight even though it seems like it?

The strength of lightweight bamboo?
that particular cane may break under weight, but bamboo is generally very tough and light. depends on the diameter of the cane, the thicker the better. if it is very flexible it will eventually break.

Can a bamboo rug be stained?

I recently got a great deal on a 7X10 bamboo rug. However, the rug is a "natural" color which is similar in color to a piece of unfinished pine. I would like to stain it a darker shade, and I'm posting in hopes that someone has done this before and can give tips/suggestions. The back of the rug has a slip mat attached, so I don't have any place to do a test patch. I can't tell if there is any protective finish on the bamboo, but I would imagine there is. Thanks!

Can a bamboo rug be stained?
You can't stain over a protective finish..the stain won't absorb. You can paint it as long as you find out what is on it now. Is it oil or latex? If it's oil you can only paint with an oil base paint. Latex won't stick to oil. It may have to be primed first.

Help with bamboo plant?

I have a large bamboo plant that is nice but it has completely overtaken my garden. The roots have grown like crazy and bamboo is popping up everywhere. Is there any way to contain it?? I like the plant but I don't want it in my entire yard.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Help with bamboo plant?
It sounds like you planted a runner, which can be invasive if not properly contained.

What you need to start out doing is digging down around the primary stand with a shovel to sever any rhizomes that are spreading out trying to establish a grove. You don't need to dig up the yard, just insert shovel, remove, and continue around the plant until you end up where you started. You may also try using a gas powered edger, as most runner's rhizomes are within the first inch or so of the soil.

Next you will need to sever the rhizomes that have escaped. Start where the new shoot has popped up. Carefully dig around it to find the primary rhizome. Then simply start yanking it out of the ground. Again, the rhizomes are shallow so it should come up easy.

Once you have completed this you will need to CONTAIN your bamboo using some kind of root barrier. These guys sell an awesome product that will keep your bamboo contained for life. http://www.lewisbamboo.com/barrier.html

Now that your bamboo is contained you will have to maintain your new mini-grove buy thinning it out every couple of years. You also may find that you did not get rid of all the rhizomes that had escaped, so you may find yourself battling this for a few months to a year, but it will subside and you will succeed.

Hopefully you are rural and it has not escaped into your neighbors yard...
Reply:determining what bamboo would be good too, but hte best thing is to go to where the part is you want to stop it and dig down just a little bit put rocks or something flat such a s concrete brick or a pc of wood down to stop the roots/plants from trailing underground kind like a mini fence pulling and digging it up wont help because bamboo trails thats how it produces with the sprouts. also where the main root is you can cut all the main shoots off that will help too to contain it. but try the "fence" it works for us.
Reply:Bless your heart! You have a big problem there. Bamboo is famous for doing this. Click this link for help:

How to clean Lucky Bamboo rocks (gnats growing on it)?

I noticed some fuzzy stuff growing on the rocks of my Lucky Bamboo (maybe algae) and then suddenly had gnats in my apartment. I took the lucky bamboo outside and the gnats went away but now the lucky bamboo is dying from the sunlight. How can i clean the rocks without killing the plant? There are probably gnat eggs growing on the eggs or in the water. Is it too late to save this plant?

How to clean Lucky Bamboo rocks (gnats growing on it)?
Yeah, those get a little yucky eventually. Just dump the rocks out into a sink with a strainer or something and rinse them a lot. Keep the plant in a glass of water.

:)
Reply:If the rocks are in the water the gnats should not have laid eggs there. The eggs could easily be on the bamboo itself. Change the water often to stop attracting the gnats. Spray the bamboo with an insecticidal soap(homemade or purchased) If you still have gnats they may have spread to other houseplants. Spray them with the insecticidal soap if they appear to be attracting the gnats. Gnats can be tricky to get rid of. You might have to buy some sticky traps made for catching the gnats. Be persistent and you will get them.

Re-planting bamboo???

DH wants to plant some bamboo along our back fence so we can have a privacy shield from the alleyway we currently are looking at. Some guy on Craigslist has some for DH to dig up and replant. I guess it is full grown. It's pretty tall. If DH plants it, will it be limp or will it stand right up? I don't know anything about bamboo. Thanks!!

Re-planting bamboo???
Hey Becky,

Be careful with Bamboo, it is invasive. There are two types, generally, clumping and running. I used a 30 mil by 24 inch root barrier to prevent the bamboo from going into the neighbors yard (you would be responsible for any removal or damage by law). If you identify the type of bamboo, then you will be able to know exactly what you have and how it will behave. I recommend the ABS (American Bamboo Society), they really know their bamboo.

I love my Bamboo - I have a Rubromarginata Philostasys which is a Timber bamboo. I also have Moso, and both are invasive if not checked. The shoots are delicious and after about 5 years of growth in the area, will get as big as an Arm. You cut them out, chop them up and have a great stir fry.

Good luck with it, don't stop because of a possible problem, learn how to deal with it, and then enjoy your bamboo. Replanting it is easy! Just take the rhizomes and put some dirt on them. They will clump or spread. You can also take a culm (part that grows out of the ground) and sprout it. See on the node of the culm there is a bump, that will sprout into a plant. Simply set the culm on it's side in a good potting soil.

If you need more information on the bamboo, there are groups that will help you ID the exact species - there are hundreds of species of Bamboo.
Reply:if it is the feathery light green variety with light, thin stalks,

(pandas eat it), it wll grow very nicely and fast. give it plenty of room and will make a pretty privacy plant with very little water, but remember, it takes up space.. it transplants easily.
Reply:Be very careful it will take over the whole garden! Best to plant it in pots or dig down and bury a board of some sort to form an under ground wall to block the roots from spreading towards the rest of the garden.
Reply:The new shoots of bamboo will be tall and erect. When replanting cut off at ground level loose shoots.Keeping very wet ensures more rapid growth.New shoots start in May and stop in sept.A decent clump will make 4 or 5 new tall shoots each year.To make a hedge the bamboo type needs to be called phylistachis. The green stemmed on is toughest, quickest grower if your in england
Reply:Be sure you have the root base of that bamboo contained--like grass-it'll spread...and it's really invasive...grows fast-and will be beyond mowing in a day..like in a really bad B-Movie staring Michael Landon and/or Vincent Price or something..

Some people plant it in a bottom less trash can-so it's contained...it's a grass--the deep roots are contained-but it the sides are where it'll travel...and it'll travel!!

How can I get bamboo to grow?

I have a small bamboo that has been growing from the leaves for about a year and it is about twice as tall as it was when I bought it. However, the actual stalk of the bamboo is the same height. There seems to be some hardened green paste on the top of the stalk (which was there when I bought it) and I wonder if that has anything to do with the stunted growth. Is there any way for me to get the actuall bamboo stalk to grow and not just the leaves?

How can I get bamboo to grow?
I think (no name) at level 3 has the right answer. From what you are describing, you have bought a "Lucky Bamboo", which is not really a bamboo, but a Dracaena. Check the site below for care and propagation instructions -- or type "lucky bamboo care" into any search engine and you will get oodles of sites to check for even more information. Good luck %26amp; I hope you find what you are looking for.
Reply:dig it up replant the root and get out of the way
Reply:If it is a true bamboo the question would be "How can I stop it from growing?"

Are you referring to the plant called "Lucky Bamboo"? It's actually Dracaena not real bamboo.
Reply:Please tell me you're not putting it in the ground! If you put it in the ground, your neighbors w/ not be your freinds in a few years.
Reply:Get a larger container/vase for it. The more room the bamboo has for it's roots... the larger it grows.
Reply:Yes.Bamboo needs the ground to be moist.Put wood chips around it.Keep the wood chips moist and add some plant food every three months.During the winter months it needs less water. But during the summer keep it moist.
Reply:just keep the bamboo in water
Reply:First a few facts. Bamboo is NOT a tree and does not grow or reproduce like one. It is a form of grass on steroids and is really aggressive. It reproduces by creepers (or rhizomes to be exact) Unless you want a thicket of it keep it in a large pot with plenty of room. It reproduces by runners Be ready to get down to weed out the excess plants as they will be there and can crowd a ceramic pot until it breaks. In a yard it will try to replace the original grass. And it does not cut that easy no matter how good a mower you have.

Wood or Bamboo?

I am planning on putting in new flooring on the main floor. I was thinking of wood and then saw bamboo. I know bamboo is better for the environment. I have pets and need durable hopefully if possible scratch free. I would love input from people with experience with both or either.

Wood or Bamboo?
Wood. Bamboo is currently popular but may not be in a few years. The better bamboo is just as durable as wood because it is compressed to harden it. The cheaper stuff is not. Because of the finish used both have the same care requirements. The claim that bamboo is more environmentally friendly could be debated. Yes it grows quickly, but most is not farmed it is being harvested from wild stocks to clear the land.

I spent more than 20 yr. owning a janitorial srvice cleaning wood floors. My favorite, especially for a lighter colored floor is Maple.

Can a rabbit eat bamboo?
Bamboo is a type of grass so I would agree with giving a small piece to your rabbit as a treat.

I wouldn't give it on a regular basis as timothy grass is best for every day hay. I think the texture would be good for her teeth and the odd piece now and then may be interesting for her to play with/eat.

Doesn't anybody know about clumping bamboo?

I answer bamboo questions all of the time because 1) I know quite a bit about it and 2) everybody seems to think that all bamboo is running and invasive

ITs true, running bamboo CAN be invasive if it is not maintained right. The simple solution is to buy clumping bamboo of which there are hundreds of species that thrive and require minimal maintenance from cool to tropical climate zones.

Why do people answer questions and give missleading statements when they just dont know enough to do better?

Doesn't anybody know about clumping bamboo?
I often wonder the same thing. I have over 20 varieties of bamboo in my yard, and most of them are clumpers. I do have a few runners but they are well contained in pots or raised beds w/ protection.

It's a shame that so many people regurgitate information about a plant they have no idea about. If only more people knew the good that the worlds fastest growing plant can have on environment, plus all the uses that bamboo has, then the world and their lives would be much better.

How do I stop Bamboo Palm taking over my garden?

I have recently replanted a garden bed replacing Bamboo Palm with Foxtail Grass. The Bamboo Palm is driving me crazy and keeps growing at an uncontrollable rate. How can I kill the Bamboo Palm forever?

How do I stop Bamboo Palm taking over my garden?
There are 2 kinds of bamboo running and clumping....Running is invasive..and only way to get rid of it is

see below

To get rid of running bamboo, you have to remove every rhizome--and any rhizome or root fragments.

You have several recommendations of what to do. I'm not aware of any of these that work.

What's the Difference Between Running Bamboos and Clumping Bamboos?

PICK ANY ONE THE THESE URLS and they all say the same thing.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?search=ba...

The problem is we don't know which specific one you have, all nurserys have their own names. You can use the tarp method and cover it to stop the growth. Just make sure it doesn't grow beyu the tarp or it will come back.
Reply:Rent a backhoe and operator and dig it up. The roots go deep so hand shoveling probably won't go deep enough. Bamboo is very very invasive.

The salt suggestion is not bad as long as you do not want to plant anything in the salted area for many many years.

If you ever plant bamboo again plant it in pots or some other way so the roots cannot spread
Reply:I've been tackling my neighbours which invades my garden every year. I certainly can't salt the roots as that makes part of my garden unusable. I cover it with a black bag which it doesn't like and dies down for a while, then hand dig out as much as possible.
Reply:depending on the size... go to GOODWILL get some nice pots or pretty glass...and pot the plants and make some money on the side of the road or your grandchildren can sell them at their house... we made over $300.00 selling them.
Reply:put lots of slat water on the roots and cut it away. if you ever consider a bamboo plant again you should keep it in a pot so it doesnt take over your yard.
Reply:Bobbi is right, but make sure that all other plants are kept away while you put the salt on the roots. ill see what else I can find in the mean time.

My lucky bamboo is dying TOT Any suggestions on keeping it alive??

I bought these lucky bamboo which are actually a Christmas present for a friend of mine.

However, under my care, one is completely yellow, one's turning yellow, and that only leaves one left that's still "alive and well" (though it seems it won't last long at this pace)

So does anyone have any suggestions on keeping it alive?

The lady that sold it to me just said that water is fine, and is that really the case? 'Cus my bamboos are dying! ToT

Reply:bamboo, plant of the family Gramineae (grass family), chiefly of warm or tropical regions, where it is sometimes an extremely important component of the vegetation. It is most abundant in the monsoon area of E Asia. Bamboos are the the largest grasses, sometimes reaching 100 ft (30 m). The stalks are round (rarely square), jointed, sometimes thorny, and hollow or solid with evergreen or deciduous leaves. Some types die after fruiting and some do not flower until they are about 30 years old. In many places bamboo is used as wood for construction work, furniture, utensils, fiber, paper, fuel, and innumerable small articles. Bamboo sprouts are eaten as a vegetable, and the grains of some species are also utilized for food. The bamboo has long been used for decorative purposes, both in gardens and in art. In the United States the native bamboo is a cane. The most common bamboo is Bambusa arundinacea. Bamboo is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Lilopsida, order Cyperales, family Gramineae.

I really don't know why you asked this question if you already know the answer or at least that is the impression I get.Well clumping Bamboo is simply a non-invasive bamboo period.

The culm and the rhizome are one. The upper region of the short rhizome has buds and one of these develops into another very short rhizome and then turns upward to come out of the soil as a secondary culm close to the parent.

This process is repeated yearly with the results that all the culms are grouped very tightly together. There you have it and the mystery of the clumping bamboo is solved

I cut some live bamboo, now I want to use it for landscaping. How do I ensure the bamboo is dead?

I cut some bamboo. I want to use it for landscaping (cutting it into small pieces and using it as little walls to terrace some beds). But, it must be dead first (I do not want to start a bamboo grove in my backyard). So, two questions really. How do I ensure that it won't start growing after I start using it in my planning beds?

I cut some live bamboo, now I want to use it for landscaping. How do I ensure the bamboo is dead?
Dry them under the sun and after drying scratch the stem and if the stem is brown in colour it mean it's dead if it's still green you have to dry it again one more time.
Reply:You need to let it completely dry out.
Reply:kill it... =) lol j/k, i dont know...would be kinda cool if it kept growing...

Propagating Lucky Bamboo?

I just bought a lucky bamboo plant today and it's rather large (24 inches or so.) I'd like to cut it in half. But when I typed it in the google I saw a lot of people talking about how theirs died... I really don't want to kill it.

So what's the proper way to cut a lucky bamboo plant?

Propagating Lucky Bamboo?
If the plant becomes infected when it's cut, it can die.

Make sure you use a disinfected, sharp knife to cut. Once the stalk is cut, it will no longer grow taller.

http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/instruct/chlee...

"If your lucky bamboo is getting too tall and top heavy for the container, cut right above a node. These are the rings that go around the bamboo. A growing center so to speak. Cut right above one of these. Then take the top portion and start all over again and put in water. Roots should appear in time.

The bottom (still in the original container) will sprout more growth from where you cut.

Now you have two plants. The old one from where the cutting was taken and the new one (which is the top) in a new container waiting for roots."

http://www.emilycompost.com/lucky_bamboo...

"One of the fun things we find with Lucky Bamboo plants is that you can propagate new Lucky Bamboo by taking cuttings off your original stalks. The easiest way to start a new Lucky Bamboo plant from a donor plant is to cut off a portion of a shoot once it gets foliage on it at least eight to ten inches in length. We recommend cutting the Lucky Bamboo shoot at a 30 degree angle about five inches away from where the stalk originated. Then place this cutting in fresh water and in about thirty days you will have a new, rooted lucky bamboo stalk.

The method to force a Lucky Bamboo stalk to produce another shoot is to cut through the entire stalk about one-quarter of an inch above a segment on the Lucky Bamboo cane. Let this cut area dry and then cover it with wax. In a few weeks you will start to see a new bud begin to burst out from the area just below the segmented area of the Lucky Bamboo cane."

http://www.evesgardengifts.com/learn/luc...

"When it does get too tall, you can cut off each stalk an inch above one of the nodes (the raised rings that grow around the stalk), and it will regrow from there. Lightly misting the tops of the stalks with water can encourage new growth – but wait a few days before doing this, so the cut surface has a chance to dry out first.

Don’t throw out those stalk-tops that you cut off! You can dip the cut end into rooting hormone powder (careful: rooting hormone is toxic, so be sure to read the instructions carefully and follow the safety precautions!) and let it dry overnight. Then set these sections in water and wait. Change the water from time to time just as you do for the original arrangement. Eventually you will see roots emerge."

http://www.fastfengshui.com/nlt_aug18_20...

Good luck!!! Hope this helps.
Reply:You're welcome! Glad it helped :) Thanks! Report It

Reply:I wouldn't cut it. Why would you want to do that? You can buy smaller ones. I would put it in a tall slim vase, with stones in the bottom to hold it up.

Is Lucky Bamboo safe in vivarium for Chinese Water Dragon?

Building with bamboo plywood?

I working on a design project and want to use bamboo plywood as my building material. The concept is temporary emergency relief housing... but with a 'green' design.

Does anyone know much about bamboo plywood?

Building with bamboo plywood?
Most bamboo is grown on farm fields created by slash and burn of native forests in Southeast Asia. The short crop rotation leads many to believe it is a greener material than wood, but further investigation shows it is anything but. Bamboo is grown with little or no environmental regulations, unlike commercial woods in the United States and Canada which end up in plywood and OSB. Furthermore, bamboo is very prone to splitting and will be difficult to work with as a sheathing material. I would offer the opinion that a temporary structure is not green unless it will be reused or disassembled into components for reuse. Here is a good link for more info: http://www.dovetailinc.org/DovetailBambo...

Care of bamboo plants?

I have one of those small bamboo plants for the house (just 3 stalks) and I was told that it just needs to be kept watered. I never let its pot run dry but the plant seems to be drying out. Is there something I am missing? I checked for info on the net but all I can find is info on big bamboo plants for the garden.

Care of bamboo plants?
I have lots of bamboo plants. Some I have in my beta fish bowls. They are doing the best but all my other ones are doing well too. I add fresh water to their pots or glass bowls once a week but I make sure they always have lots water in them. I wash the dust off their leaves at that time too. when I think about it I put a small amout of miracle gro in the water also but not in the ones that my fish are in.lol The tallest bamboo plant that I have is actually in a well lit room. Good luck
Reply:Hmm that's all I do for mine and it seems to be growing just fine at the moment. You could try adding a small amount of baby bio for houseplants into the water once a week for nutrients.
Reply:The plant should be full of water all the time. If it is in a pot fill the pot up to the rim and check on it everyday. I have one and I was having the same problem, once I began to water it more it flourished. I hope that this helps you.
Reply:There are two ways to grow them indoors.

1. Put in fishbowl with marbles on bottom and fill with water

2. Plant it in soil and keep the soil moist

Does lucky bamboo curl?

I have 9 stalks of lucky bamboo potted in its original ceramic container about the size of a large coffee cup. On the picture it came with it shows bamboo that is curled. I was wondering if mine would curl and if it does is there anything I need to do to help it along?

Does lucky bamboo curl?
Straight and curling are different, I think --- I have both and they have never changed shapes, while growing.
Reply:I think Travis is right. Just about any plant will move towards light. Report It

Reply:The curly bamboo is trained to grow that way. Unfortunately it takes a rather long time to do.

Put the bamboo on its side with a cylinder on top and a light source above. The top of the bamboo will grow towards the light. As the bamboo grows slowly rotate the bamboo/cylinder so that the top will curl around the cylinder as it grows.
Reply:You have to shape it yourself.
Reply:I also have a beautiful lucky bamboo plant. Yes, mine does curl.

I took it out of it's original ceramic vase and placed in a larger one with marbles at the bottom of it. This allows the plant roots to grow. Also, I only fill mine with spring water at room temperature and add plant food that's specifically for the lucky bamboo plants (I can't recall the name, but it's a green liquid only requiring 3 to 4 drops).

Good Luck
Reply:Lucky Bamboo dose curl, but it needs partial sun and to be watered once a day in the afternoon. It takes three to six Weeks to curl
Reply:some bamboo curls some doesn't.
Reply:Bamboo does not curl on its own,it is shaped(curls etc) when it very young and tender,I have not been successful at doing it my self but have bought many that were curled ,they are lovely plants .I will be watching for answers to this also .: )

Unhealthy Lucky Bamboo?

I had have a lucky bamboo tree for like 8 years now. The leaves at the top are turning all yellows and dying. It seems like it's infecting the whole bamboo itself. I would like to know how can I turn it around to being healthy again. Thanks in advance.

Unhealthy Lucky Bamboo?
Pull it all out of the container, trim the roots, trim the tops (you can make new plants out of the cuttings if you want), clean the little pot out, then stuff it all back in and water it. Give it a drop or two of liquid food, MiracleGro or similar, every once in a while.

Mine only does it when it's all root-bound. It springs right back to form when I do this.
Reply:I'm having the same problem. I would like to know the answer, too! I'm answering this so that I can watch it! :o) Good Luck!

Are bamboo sticks safe in my tropical fish tank?

Bamboo sticks only, not bamboo plant.

Are bamboo sticks safe in my tropical fish tank?
You should be extremely cautious about putting anything into your tank that may have been exposed to insecticides, floral preservatives or any other type of chemical. To be safe, you should really only put aquarium safe items in your tank unless you are absolutely certain the items are free from any chemical, parasite, bacteria or other harmful items.
Reply:Bamboo is sold at my LFS, and is safe for fish, however - it is mean to be partially submerged, not fully submerged. So it is not real ideal for most fish tanks. Unless you have very tall bamboo and have a place for it to stick out at the top of your tank, you're not going to have much luck with it - it will die and rot before too long. :(

It is unfortunate because it would look fabulous in my 40 gallon bowfront. :(
Reply:As long as the sticks are not treated with anything, and are in their natural state, they should be fine. Since they are an organic, keep an eye on them for signs of decay and replace as necessary.

Chinese bamboo upkeep?

I am told that each one has a growing "technique." - The stems are twisted around a cone(?) to make it grow twisted.

How much *trouble* is it to grow an already-established potted Chinese bamboo plant?

Do I need to use any added vitamins (liquid or other) to keep it growing healthy?

And how big of a pot should I use later, after I get it growing bigger?

Do bamboo plants like wet conditions?

We would like to plant some bamboo plants but our gaden can be quite wet especially in the winter. At the moment we have bamboo in pots but would like to transplant it so that it will grow taller/wider.

Do bamboo plants like wet conditions?
Bamboo require deep rich loamy soil kept fertile, during their early years of development by anual mulches of rotted manure, and leaves. It usualy takes two or three years for a clump to become established, so regular feeding, watering ,and protection are essential at first.

Propogation is by root division in spring, retaining a ball of soil around each section. They can also be increased by stem and root cuttings. In some cases some may grow from seed, although few bamboos flower, or if they do they so, may die afterwards.

The common hardy bamboo Arundinaria japonica, makes a dense evergreen screen of surprising grace and elegance, nowhere more suprisingly beside water. Its roots run about with abandon unless checked, but very similar bamboos stay demurely in clumps. There are even dwarf bamboos for miniture plantings. Bamboo roots enjoy moisture, but not actually standing in water.

Many of them have the failing of running roots. Rather than exclude them for that reason, it is worth forming barriers that the roots cannot pass , 18inches deep would be sufficent. Or simply mow around them. A mower will destroy new shoots comming up out of the bounds.

Unfortunatly bamboos are a botanists paradise. The faintest difference of stem colouring provides an excuse for a new name. Perhaps as a result few nurseries grow them.Metake which unfortunatly a spreader, is the only true common one, although the similar A.nitida can be trusted to sty in a clump. The shorter broaadleafed Sasa palmata makes an admirable contrast- but this one is rampant.

I have drawn up a rough guide to help you with how wet your bamboo will stand.

w = very shallow water

m = moist soil

Acorus calamus variegata, w

Arundinara murielae, m

A. varieagata ,m

Athyrium filix-femina, m

Butomus umbellatus, w

Cyperus longus, w

Matteuccia struthiopteris, m

Miscanthus sacchariflorus,, m

Osmunda regalis, m

Sagittaria sagittifolia ,w

Typha latifolia ,w

There are many more bamboos for your choice.I have only given you a few to start with.

Happy gardening.

Would advise against growing bamboo in the ground because of its invasive nature. Unless it it of the non invasive varieties.
Reply:Some do, just ask where you get it from about its habitat
Reply:Make sure the type of Bamboo you plant. It spreads like a fire with gasoline and can pop up anywhere. It is impossible to kill.It can travel under concrete and end up in your neighbors yard. Its a nightmare.
Reply:Bamboo loves wet conditions. It is a weed though in a lot of parts of the world. Very hard to control. You should keep it in the pots and look at what native species are available in your area. It is much better to plant native species.
Reply:I guess it depends on the type of bamboo you want to plant, and how wet.

They like regular water, but not boggy conditions. Actually, the roots don't grow into standing water, and some people use moats/rivers etc as part of their root barrier. I wouldn't plant a running bamboo in the ground without containment. Clumping bamboo will not spread like running bamboo, and wonderfully easy to care for.

How wet? I have natural springs in my yard during parts of the year, and the clumping bamboo I planted to grow in that area died. The water necessary is about the same as a lawn.
Reply:yes bamboo is found around swamps, lakes, and rivers in china and japan.

you need to ask a vet because you could bring a sample of bamboo to the vet and talk to him/her about it

they could answer that question so much better than anyone on the Internet could.

MY bamboo is dieing i dont no why?!?

my bamboo is dieing. does it need bamboo need sunlight ?

MY bamboo is dieing i dont no why?!?
you mean 'lucky bamboo'? this is a draceana plant that has been rooted in water-you need to keep fresh water for the roots at all times since there is no dirt in the gravel-keep it at least near a window if there is no sunlight.

if the stem is all yellow and it stinks when you smell it close up then it has rotted-it is a goner.

these things don't last forever they are rooted cuttings growing in just water-you eventually have to plant a cutting if you want to be a healthy plant-it's just a gimmick
Reply:water it, it is a grass after all. but yes it needs some sun and a lot of space. It grows real fast once it get's started.
Reply:add "green green" to water(its bamboo plant food)
Reply:You might not be watering it enough. Bamboo plants need alot of water.

Can I put my lucky bamboo plant in the tank with my sea monkeys?

I have a small tank of sea monkeys that has been thriving for months. And I'm curious to know if they would get along well with my bamboo plant. Would the salty water kill the bamboo? Would the bamboo kill the sea monkeys? I read that underwater vegetation like algae helps raise the oxygen levels in the water so the sea monkeys can breathe better... does the same principle go for bamboo plants? What about rocks? I want to make my tank a little more interesting but I don't want to do anything stupid.

Can I put my lucky bamboo plant in the tank with my sea monkeys?
yes the saltwater for the brineshrimp would cause the bamboo to die.

the bamboo doesnt have the right pores which will prevent the salt from entering, and basically the plant will die.

Is Bamboo Flooring Difficult to Do Oneself? Any Suggestions?

We recently bought a home with horrible berber (I hate berber!) and I'm very interested in replacing the floors with bamboo. How difficult is it to install myself. I'm handy with tools, but I'm not sure if it's a project I'll get started and never finish if it gets too hard. :-) What tools are necessary for the project and how can I guess how long it will take?

I would also like to get my stairs covered with bamboo, but I heard that stairs are very difficult to do. Thoughts?

Is Bamboo Flooring Difficult to Do Oneself? Any Suggestions?
Solid bamboo installs the same as hardwood, except you can actually glue solid bamboo down directly over concrete, above grade, on grade, or below grade. As bamboo is grass and not hardwood, it is more "flexible"and adjusts easily to high levels of moisture or the lack of it.

The glue used is usually urethane-based and contains moisture-resistant properties. Prior to installing, you must of course, prep your subfloor. This entails checking the moisture level of the concrete sub, making sure it is flat and even, sanding down high parts and filling in low parts.

There is also the engineered bamboo type which can be floated if you are a bit hesitant to glue solid directly onto concrete.

For your foyer and den, it would be your option to run the planks just one way for both areas for a look of continuity, or you can split the areas and place the appropriate trim/molding in between for a nice, smooth transition.

Installation kits are usually offered as well for the brand of bamboo you're buying. Installation on stairs requires a bit more patience as it is best installed by gluing down (which is messy but provides the most stability) and measurements have to be just right to make sure it looks good when you're done.
Reply:like they said, bamboo flooring is not that dificult to install.

but there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

around here, if we install over concrete, we usally use an engineer/laminate flooring, with a sound barrier in between the flooring and subfloor. they either interlock with each other, or we glue the tongue/grove. this is called a floating floor, and the price might be comparable to a bamboo product.

speaking of bamboo. in my experience, it is not the best product out there. the finish is not as good as other prefinished products, and it mught get scratched easily, and the board themselves are a bit fragile, so you have to be carefull when you tap them in place not to damage the tongue

or the edge of the board itself.

that said. if you have plywood subfloor, and you decided to do it your self you will need a flooring stapler, the bostitch MIIIFS is the most common, you can rent it at the depot for around $30 day. I dont recall. it will come with a rubber face mallet, which will come handy when tapping the boards into place. you might also want to glue the boards. to prevent them from ever squeaking. a case of subfloor glue is only $40. and you can glue every other row. on top of that you will need a mitter saw, a table saw, a compressor and maybe a jigsaw.

the way we install is the following:

we install the flooring running parallel with the lenght of the room.

if you want your starting and finishing row to be about the same width, which is the norm. because you dont want to start with a 4 inch wide board and finish with a 1 inch one. so the best way I can explain this is, you measure the width of the room, lets say is 12'2", and your boards are 4 inch wide. that means 3 boards per foot, so you are left with 2 inches at the end. so what you do is you rip the starting row down to 3 inches, that will give an extra inch of play so your final row will also be 3 inches. was that clear enough?

also, bamboo flooring comes in just one lenght, so if you dont pay attention, you might end with what we call staggered/staircase joints. where the joint in the boards in one row line up with another row next to it and so on. the easiest way to prevent that is to always keep the lenght of your starter boards (the pieces of board you use to start each row) random.

if you are doing flooring through out the house, you are better off installing thresholds at every door to every room, that way you can do each room indepently from each other.

Installing stairs is trickier, beacuse the edges need to be tight against the drywall/skirt board. you'll need bullnose pieces for the treads. and maybe a stair jig or template. but if you dont really care about how tight you edges.
Reply:Bamboo floors are beautiful. They are not that difficult to install, where you buy the bamboo they have some sets in a plastic bag with everything youll need. Dont install it to tight or else will have bables after cleaning with water and vinegar. venegar is good because the acrilic coat will be bright. and no bacteria.
Reply:hi ...Bamboo flooring is not hard to install at all...it's no different than installing a 3/4" hardwood...you can go to your local Lowe's and speak to a flooring specialist and actually see the bamboo and what your getting into...my first question to you would be are you going over wood subfloor or concrete? If concrete you need to glue the wood flooring..very simple you just go by rows from one side of the room to the other but you must first find the center of the room and start your first row there so that your room does not possibly end up at an angle...(there is no wall that is perfectly straight)...glue, tapping block and...knee pads(your knees are going to kill you at the end... :-) OK if it is a wood subfloor you use the nail down technique...you simply go rent a nailer for the day, find your center in the room and run your first row....the nailer shoots the nail at an angle into the wood flooring on the tongue side, your next row tap the pieces together and then nail (this process is done standing up, a little easier on the knees) :-) sssooooo easy you'll be great!!! any questions feel free to e mail me...fastjeepchick@yahoo.com

Growing Bamboo in a pot ?

I am growing bamboo in a large pot, planted it last year, getting new growth this year. ANy tips on how to help it to grow taller? And stronger? What does Bamboo like?

Growing Bamboo in a pot ?
Bamboo is a colony plant it uses energy from exsisting plant to reproduce more plants. Give it regular sunlight and water.

If the colony starts growing, plant it in a spacious yard.
Reply:basically just water, possibly plant food.

We have one that we got in China Town, and we've had it for a couple years now. it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Reply:Healthy soil (use plantfood) lots of room, and lots of water. The bigger the pot, the better. If you cut down the old growth, the new growth will grow much taller and stronger.
Reply:Years ago I had a clay pot of bamboo growing on a stand behind my couch. This was not what is commonly called "Lucky Bamboo." It was the real thing. One night while entertaining the pot just flew apart in a thousand shards-the plant had destroyed the container. Moral of the story-use a very large pot!
Reply:Give it time it will get bigger, try a larger pot.
Reply:A sidedressing of manure will help bamboo grow tall and healthy.

Where can I find a bamboo screen for CHEAP?!?

I'm looking for a bamboo screen - Looking at it with the bamboo running vertically, I need the dimensions to be roughly 4-6 feet tall (i.e. that would be the length of the pieces of bamboo) by 3-6 feet wide. The bamboo itself can be any size - skinny to fat.

I have almost zero budget for this so I'm hoping to find one either for free or dirt cheap.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Where can I find a bamboo screen for CHEAP?!?
You should first check out www.freecycle.org and www.craigslist.com to get the best deals.

If you don't have any luck there try http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produc...

They have a bamboo screen for $49.99. I don't know if you consider this cheap but it looks like a good deal to me!
Reply:A few years ago I went to a garden center and bought a cheap roll of bamboo to cover an outdoor fence that I wanted to turn into a Japanese garden look. It molded out after the second season, but I did not care because it was cheap. Try Cost Plus if Lowe's or Home depot doesn't have them. also, I would try looking on-line, especially if you don't live in an area where there are lots of stores. Save your gas and time! You might need to wait until spring for the garden centers to be well-stocked.

I want to plant a bamboo plant in my backyard but dont hve much space. Can I contain its growth within 1'x1'

I have a small space 6 feet x 1.5 feet where I can plant some bushes in my backyard on the ground. I fancy bamboo so much but dont know how much it might spread.I have kept a space of 1 foot for the bamboo. Can it become green and tall in that space? I have planted a palm and a song of India, besides money plants and some crotons. I also have a saflera in a pot in that space. But will the bamboo take over the entire space.. the area small and I live in a small flat. Just wonder if I can have a green bamboo bush there without having to struggle to manage if it tends to grow too wide or too massive. Grateful for some advice!!

I want to plant a bamboo plant in my backyard but dont hve much space. Can I contain its growth within 1'x1'
Bamboo tends to grow... and grow... and grow... But if it's in it's own pot or something, you should be able to grow it in a small space...
Reply:I would recommend then growing maybe 2 bamboo plants in some large, wooden boxes. This way you can grow either a runner or a clumper without fear of it taking over and spreading beyond your control.

Also, since I don't know you're climate I can't really recommend which type to plant, but if you are in a climate that gets heavy freezes then most clumpers are out of the question, except for a few of the mountain bamboos in the Fargesia family.

Should you plant it in the ground, even one clumping bamboo plant will eventually take over such a space in about 3 years.

Now should you put in pots you will need to remove the entire plant ever couple years and divide it, otherwise it will become root bound and kill itself.
Reply:There are two types of bamboo, running and cluster. The running bamboo will grow runners(roots that spread laterally and grow shoots above ground at intervals) that will spread as much as they can. The cluster type will only grow off of a main root system and will grow new shoots very slowly. Do research to find cluster bamboo and you will be fine.
Reply:Don't plant bamboo in the ground. Like fly4620 said, it will grow and grow!
Reply:when planting the bamboo keep in mind that it give birth to to small plants on the surface after being matures 1'*1' is enough space for them to have one plant with its two or three siblings but you have to look after it, to let it be in the specified space ................for that, you need the sibling to grow a bit then use the tie method to straighten it up as you wants its direction to be ........as it will grow faster and longer your other habitants wont mind ...........other way is to leave two to three plant on the surface and remove others . as they can grow in pots so pot them or dispose them, its upto you .......... other alternative is to have bamboo palm which looks as the bamboo but grows slower and requires less space . it dosent highten it self even ............

Lucky Bamboo Problem?

My Lucky Bamboo has brown leaves and seems to be dying on me. I have it in a small vase with water, but would it be beneficial to transfer it to a bigger area? Do they thrive better in soil? My Mom who has recently passed away got it for me, and I want to try to save it. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thank you.

Oh, and another thing.. how do i remove the dead leaves from the bamboo? Can i just pull them off?

Lucky Bamboo Problem?
Lucky bamboo is not actually a bamboo. This plant is in the same family as corn. A lot of people have been selling it in these vases with just water. It does okay in just water, but it will actually do well in soil also. So you could try replanting it in soil if you would like. If the roots have become extremely long and wrapped up in the bottom of the vase you have now, you can trim them back. I usually cut off dead leaves with a pair of scissors. Make sure it always has enough water and that you are feeding it regularly. Indoor plant foods work just fine. Just follow the directions on for the product you buy. You can also trim the roots back every year.

Also avoid direct sunlight...this damages the leaves.
Reply:The Lucky Bamboo is one of the easiest plants to grow. Make sure it is not in a cold drafty place or too close to a heat register. Make sure the water is not sour. You can tell if it is by smelling it. I usually change my water once a month and keep it filled to the top of the vase.

You should cut the leaves off close to the stalk because if you tear them off you will damage the stalk.
Reply:I'd try emptying and rinsing the water and/or trying a new vase.

Do you have it in a vase with stones, or just by itself.

I'd want to make sure that the roots were able to grow.

It is possible to cut part of the plant off to propagate it, but I've had mixed success.

It is generally a good idea to cut off dead leaves. Take a pair of scissors, and wipe with rubbing alcohol before and after each cut to sterilize it. Let it dry a little too.
Reply:have had my Lucky Bamboo for six years,,, and looks great,, Occasionally a leaf may start to turn brown, I just wait till is completely brown and it will peel off easily from plant,, and new ones continue to grow,, About once a year , will change vase to one slightly larger and make sure stones are clean..No soil ! They do need alot of water, never let them become dry
Reply:Why don't you stop in at your local Florist and ask him/her? You would be getting an expert opinion as opposed to those of us who really do not have a "green thumb".

Lucky bamboo?

my luck bamboo's stem is turning yellow. it is setting out of the sunlight in my bathroom in the same place it has been for the last year. it is also grouped with other bamboo that is doing just fine. what do i do?

Lucky bamboo?
Mine did the same thing! I had 3 of them in a vase in front of the window on top of the toilet. One of them turned yellow %26amp; felt hollow. Here's how I saved it. Cut off the yellow part of the stalk, light a candle (white looks better) %26amp; drip melted wax over the cut you made, making sure you completely seal the cut. Then put it back in your vase. Change the water too. If you have a stem on the dead part that's still green, cut it off the stalk %26amp; put in a separate vase with water. It'll grow roots in about a month. This is what I've done %26amp; I still have my plants. Plus a new one with the stem.
Reply:Whatever you do ,dont plant it outside. it'll take over and you will NEVER be able to get rid of it.
Reply:Sometimes bamboo will get this white chalky stuff all over the stalk where it goes in the water. Clean it off really well and clean your container too. Sometimes i put mine in the shower to clean the leaves too although if yours is smaller, the sink would work too. Dont be afraid to scrub it!

Lucky Bamboo??¿¿?

OK,I got a Lucky Bamboo about 3 years ago in Florida and it died a couple weeks ago, turned yellow, etc. There were a few little pieces or little stalks that hadnt died yet that I broke off and put in water with gravel to get roots. They haven't grown bigger or anything and I was wondering..what should I do with them now? They have very long, nice roots but will they ever grow into a big bamboo stalk or always be little with no growth? What do I do now?

Lucky Bamboo??¿¿?
You can plant them in soil for faster growth and then wash the roots and put them back in their water at a later date if you need to.

i fertilize mine with seasol(liquid seaweed, just a drop a week or a tiny pinch of fertilizer that you would mix in a watering can.
Reply:soil has to many nutruints and will kill the bamboo Report It

Reply:They'll grow alright but really slowly. You may wanna try a tad bit of fertiliser to see if it speeds up the growth. But remember to change the water periodically to prevent the water from being mucky.

Wacom Bamboo Fun A5 or Wacom Intuos A6?

Hi,

I want to buy a Wacom, and I will mainly use it for drawing. I am not a professional, I would use it as a hobby. My price range allows me to choose between a Wacom Bamboo fun A5 and Intuos A6. Which one is better? I know Intuos has the better quality, but is it to small? And maybe a bamboo fun would be enough for a hobby user? Any ideas and/or comments?

Thanking you in advance

Wacom Bamboo Fun A5 or Wacom Intuos A6?
i think Wacom Bamboo Fun is better to buy. as you see, i have canvassed Bamboo Fun since i'm also looking to buy a graphic pen tablet. it provides more convenience to use, provided that you are a hobbyist for drawing. i am planning to buy a Wacom Bamboo Fun soon because it provides me the creative side amongst the Wacom tablets. with that, i think it'll be perfect for me because i'm a budding artist, photomanipulator and a digital artist that uses Photoshop CS2.

i recommend you buying Bamboo Fun because it's small and has variety of colors to choose to match your personality. it's also a value for your money because of its retail price. although the con here is the mouse because i think it'll be kinda awkward for a mouse to be used in a small, space-saver graphic tablet.
Reply:I have gotten bamboo and my wacom stick broke(in the washer machine)
