Bamboo shoot tip?
Bamboo has almost no taste of its own. In S.E. Asian cooking it is used as a "filler", an ingredient to give a dish structure.

Bamboo and tofu are ideal fillers, because they absorb the taste of the dish they are added to.

My favorite bamboo dish is Vietnamese Bun Mang Vit soup, a duck soup with noodles and bamboo.
Reply:Rinse before using. Canned bamboos shoots are pre-cooked and need only to be heated. Fresh bamboo shoots should be boiled until tender, husked, then cut up.

Easy Bamboo Shoot Soup

4 servings

6 cups chicken stock or vegetable stock

1 (8 ounce) can bamboo shoots

1 teaspoon szechuan sauce

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1 1/2 teaspoons water

1 teaspoon light oil

salt and pepper

1. Bring stock to a boil.

2. Add bamboo shoots and szechuan sauce, and return to a boil.

3. Mix cornstarch and water until there are no lumps, then add to stock/shoots, and let it thicken slightly.

4. Add the 1 teaspoons of oil to thin it out a little.

5. Salt and pepper to taste.
Reply:eww bamboo shoot..ima shoot the bamboo.
