About 6 months ago I installed some (what I now realize is pretty cheap) bamboo flooring in my living/dining room. I have two big sliders in the room, both with sheer curtain covering them. Just today I pulled up the area rug to clean the floor and realized there is a very noticeable fading around the perimeter of the rug. I am completely shocked. I knew nothing could really resist fading, but this is really bad. I have laminate bamboo which looks great, but obviously does not resiste fading well at all. Can you please tell me what options I have to 1) slow this process and/or 2) help lessen the existing fading so it's not so obvious (i.e. blend it somehow)? I don't know of anything I can do so any help from the gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.
Bamboo flooring fading... Please help?
move the rug and let the rest of the floor fade to match. No problems with my bamboo, but it is vertical cut and 5/8 inch thick and real bamboo. Can't beat the real good stuff with 6 coats of klump aluminum oxide finish. I would not recommend sanding laminate flooring ever.
Reply:IF I WERE YOU I'D EMAIL MARTHA STEWARD FOR ADVICE. BUT YOU CAN SAND THE AREA SMOOTH AND STAIN IT THE COLOR YOU LIKE THEN PUT A SEALER TO KEEP IT FROM FADING. HELLO HOME DEPOT !!

Well, then it's not real bamboo or there is something under your floor in the ground that it doesn't like living on. That's the problem. The solution is easy, but expensive. Don't try scrubbing it or it wil fade even more and start stinking. So, don't try that. But, you'll just have to get that out and fast. Before bugs crawl through it. And, get a new floor as soon as you can. I know I sound crazy. But believe me. The same thing happened to my aunt.....
