Pets and bamboo floors?

i am looking at moving into a downtown apartment that is too cute for words...except it has bamboo wood floors, which are beautiful, but we have a small dog (20 lbs) and i am concerned his nails are going to scratch it up. we've always lived on carpet and vinyl so i've never really had to take this into consideration before. obviously, we don't want to move in only to find out we will be needing to replace the floors when we leave.

i think i know what the obvious answer is, but i have high hopes, so does anyone have bamboo floors and a dog, and want to throw in their two cents??

Pets and bamboo floors?
Bamboo wood floors are a very soft wood. A big dog could do some damage, even a small dog. One accident and it could mean distaster even toenails like you mentioned would be bad. You could place a lot of area rugs down but then it's still an issue.
Reply:I have birch floors and 2 bigger dogs (one 50lbs one 65lbs) and their nails do scratch into the surface. Especially when they've run and then stopped suddenly and slid across the surface digging in their nails. Have you read up on bamboo floors and their hardness - honestly I don't know. But provided this to you for reference and comparison.
