Planting bamboo in Colorado. Where to buy them?

Hello, I live in Aurora Colorado and would like to plant bamboo to use as a fence in my backyard. I would love to have species that will grow taller than 10'. Is there a place in Colorado that sell bamboo plants? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I agree with the lady above. Bamboo is very invasive and your neighbors will not appreciate you planting something that is prone to put out 8-foot underground runners into their yard and shoot up more bamboo.

If you really want bamboo then dig down 4 feet along your property line, pour a concrete wall at least 6-8 inches thick and plant the bamboo on your side of the yard. Completely enclose the bamboo roots so it cannot invade others.

There are supposedly non-invasive bamboo species. Don't believe the claims.

If you want an exotic garden, try other plants. Canna lilies look exotic and they flower. Check your local garden center for exotic plants.
Reply:LOL I'm at war with my neighbor now over his bamboo..it has grown under my fence, all around my work shop , hangs over my fence shedding leaves in my pool etc..I cut them once they atraggle over my fence..then I throw them back in his yard..this upsets him but is the legal thing to do..In some states you are allowed to cut anything over your property..but you must put the cuttings back on the neighbors side of the fence, or they can actually file theft charges on you..I tell him that is the law..and if he would trim them himsleve he wouldn't have to worry about it....They are very invasive and I have too cut new shoots that grew under the fence every time I mow..also..I didn't think bamboo would grow in Colorado..
Reply:I wouldn't recomend planting bamboo. It is an exotic invavise species, and is hard to get rid of once established. It also spreads easily. Just build a fence.
